There are circumstances where it’s more than ok to do it- such as when you’re learning or when you’re “playing” around. You can “waste” these at your leisure.
Only stupid people buy from amazon, temu etc.
I wonder if the short burst of hot air heated the multimeter leads enough to influence the measurement. It’d be interesting to see this tried again with a hot object applied directly to the resistor. Still, this is not an unrealistic test.

Thanks again , we buy our resistors from amazon. But we are just learning, i dont believe this will hurt us at all. But it is nice to know. What bothers me is i would still buy them if they had + or – 5 % im learning do not need to be that exact yet . Would like to know what im buying tho.
